rame.net : amri : background info
The AMRI is a different look at some of the data stored in the Internet Adult Film Database.
By way of history, in 1996, when rame.net was started, we wanted to host an archive of all reviews posted to the newsgroup. We felt (and still do) that reviews are what allow us to, if you will, watch each other's back. With the adult movie industry churning out more and more product each month, it is often impossible to find a "good" movie in the waves of low-budget, one-day-wonder crap that is flooding the shelves these days.
So, members of the rame community often post reviews of movies they've seen -- good AND bad -- for the benefit of their fellow RAMErs. However, this collective knowledge is not very useful if it can no longer be accessed, or, in the alternative, be too difficult to access (i.e. public, web-based archives).
Thus, the AMRI was born.
The initial AMRI was nothing more than a collected index of reviews archived at my and Heretic's site. Heretic had various reviews from the alt.sex.movies collective and I was maintaining archives for myself, Imperator, Roger P. Tipe and the RAME collective. As time went on, we linked the AMRI to the IAFD and added rudimentary searching capability. (It should be noted here that tho Heretic's site is gradually falling victim to link rot, we have a complete mirror of his site and have changed our links to point to it as opposed to his crumbling one.)
As time went on, we added new partners. First was Rog's Reviews. Rog moved his archive from my server to his own, but I continued to link to his site. From there, we added Den's Cyberspace Adult Video Reviews. Unfortunately, financial concerns made him move his older reviews into a pay site, and we have no longer have a way of interfacing with them. We strongly encourage you to check out his site, its reasonably priced (a buck a month at last check -- you can't buy a Sunday paper for that!) and his daily output goes unmatched.
Some time passed and a few new reviewers appeared on these scene. I liked their work and asked them to partner with us and they agreed, and thus our relationship with AdultDVDReviews.com and AdultVHSReviews.com was cemented.
Recently, we linked up with DVDPornReviews.com, a site that specializes in the blossoming field of DVD porn. Our own Roger T. Pipe heads the writing staff over there -- a staff that includes two women, for those of you looking for a female perspective on things.
Most of these reviews originally appeared in rec.arts.movies.erotica or alt.sex.movies. They are archived for the benefit of the Internet community. If I have missed your review, please mail it to me (amri@rame.net) for inclusion... no cost or obligation!
The reviews are copywritten by the authors unless otherwise specified.
Some reviewers have put multiple titles into one review. In these cases, the title is linked only to the post in which the review resides; not the title within the post.
Thanks for stopping by.
